2021 Syllabus | 96 Credits | SLQF Level 5

Target Group

The course is for the following categories of the professional staff:

• Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service (SLEAS)
• Sri Lanka Principal’s Service (SLPS)
• Sri Lanka Teacher Educator Service (SLTES)

Objectives

The main objective of Education is to produce a creative future generation beneficial to the country. The primary institution that labours towards this end is the school the role of the principal who manages and directs the school is of immense significance. Many are the competencies that should be cultivated by a principal to put in to execution an education suitable for the 21^st century at school level. There fore it is necessary and important for a principal as a leader in education to be accomplished in new educational knowledge, educational skills of the 21^st century and leadership competencies of the 21^st century.

A candidate who has successfully completed this programme will be able to

• Demonstrates leadership qualities expected of a high performing school principal.
• Addresses issues to bring about economic and social development.
• Analysis the school situation to identify to identify problems and conducting research to improve the management practices.
• Applies management functions effectively in the school context.
• Makes decisions and handle crises in school.
• Deals effectively with behavioral problems of school children.
• Applies new technologies in School and Educational Administration.
• Uses technology to optimize the school organization and to communicate with parents, students and other stake holders.
• Analysis educational policy and conduct comparative analyses of educational systems.

Eligibility

1. Currently Serving in Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service (SLEAS) / Sri Lanka Principal’s Service (SLPS) / Sri Lanka Teacher Educator Service (SLTES)
   AND
2. Passed G.C.E.(A/L) with 3 S Passes and 5 Years Teaching Experience
   OR
   Followed Diploma In School Management

Programme Structure

This programme is a three years (six semesters) General Degree that conforms to SLQF Level 5 with 96 credits. The main mode includes both pedagogical and andragogical approaches and also adapts expository, individualized leaning group presentation, collaborative learning, problem based learning, case studies and research methods.

Entrance Exam/Test Fee: Rupees 1,250.00

Registration Fee: Rupees 1,000.00

Programme Fee: Rupees 150,000.00 in 3 Instalment(s).

Examination Fees: In addition candidates have to pay examination fees when appling examinations.
